Agriculture Plus is a program that was started in 2013 to allow farmers in the community to obtain greater yields while capitalizing on their existing knowledge and skill sets.
In our region in Uganda, food scarcity and low crop yields continue to pose a major challenge for subsistence farmers. Agriculture Plus provides farmers with training, based on the most recent scientific knowledge and market research, to make sure that farmers plant the most valuable cash crops in the most efficient manner. We also provide farmers with better seedlings that can withstand greater weather extremes and produce a greater yield than normal strains.
Agriculture remains the backbone of Uganda’s economy, and with the knowledge gained through Agriculture Plus, farmers in our community can now produce more and better crops than ever.
